Good reminder!I've listened/read the latest reports and as I understand it, other than the southeast Kootensys the back country is open to licence vehicles as long as you stay on established roads, and no camp fires!

Hi Guys, just wanted to share a video with you guys. Its of the SM setup, also added seven pieces of Enduristan soft luggage 75 litres of storage. Going camping and will be testing out Enduristan Adventure set up very soon for the first time as a complete set up, if anyone's in the research stage or debating new luggage I was thinking of sharing a vid review after I've beat it up a bit and tested but not sure if that would interest anyone? Anyways if you have any questions just let me know I'm happy to help. Fastest way to hear a reply is by...

Well that sounds pretty straight forward, thanks! We'll be leaving Pigs Gorge early Monday morning and heading back on Friday, not sure which day we'll ride the China ahead-Yalakom route, will be heading to Lillooet on the first day to drop the gear to lighten up.I found a GPS track to ride the Michel Moon Creek FSR just west of Moha, how is that ride for difficulty and high elevation views?

I'm signed up on my own - if there's some other DSBC'ers in the same boat send me a message. We're supposed to be in teams of 2 or 3. I'm looking to do the R class ride.

Bummer Steve, I was actually going to text you to see if you're interested in a local ride, now that my (new to me) bike is running. The Husaberg FE 550 is sure sweet! So here's a deal: since my 550 is 100cc too small for this ride, why don't I ride your 990 for you, that way your ticket won't go to waste? Ok, fair enough, didn't think so. But I thought I'd try ... I'm looking for ways to salve your disappointment, first and foremostly ... you know that, right ... lol Get better amigo - I hope we can see you at the Noob Ride in...

Copy that Tom . . . Frustration speaking there . Never done the LS , was hoping to this year but alas it was not to be . The idea that the work of those who put on the event is jeopardized by the selfish few .

Might be easier to go down Pale Face, from Hope to Chilliwack Lake, since the switchback would be downhill... But probably need a friends or more anyway. I remember last time one guy lost it and went completely crazy because of the Horse Flies (Giant sized) ;-) I think he decided to move and ride only is couch after that event...

Just for those who think ORV deaths are out of control. This accident happened some 6000 kms from Vancouver. in New Brunswick. That is going a long way out to find a negative story on ATVs. All ORVs (including Dual Sports) have a certain level of danger and I think we all acknowledge this fact. Of course news only picks up on the really stupid riders or really unlucky ones. At least the cops gave a honest response at the end Its like any motor vehicle when a motorist gets on any vehicle of any type you always have to be careful of speed,...

Just one? I've had near head - ons with dirt bikes out of control on corners as well. But 4 wheelers seem to be in a league of their own. One more reason to ride in the interior.

Well that sucks to think that anyone from this site and anyone ever involved in the LSDS ride said screw this and hit the trails. I hope it wasn't anyone from DSBC. I just did a little FB searching for dirt biking in this area. People just don't get it. Numerous posts about hitting Kamloops area trails in the last month. When called out on it they just say yup...I'm stupid and so are all the other riders having a great time ripping up the trails in the Duffy Lake area. So ...hopefully the idiots arent any LSDS riders, but just...

I am convinced that the drivers along Harrison west are all blind and drunk...and ignorant. Got sprayed with rocks by one..........same thing as you, around a blind corner............met two head-on, racing side by side...........I tell you, the things you see when you don't have a grenade! Maybe there is something about being on 4 wheels that makes people stupid?

This is typical where a few irresponsible donkeys ruin a situation for the majority of responsible riders. I would hope that the Police or a Conservation Officer catch them when they are coming out of the bush.

Quite the epidemic with these things, timely as I had one come at me round a corner on the wrong side of the road this weekend and he was not wearing a helmet either. In the article a 5 year old crushed, what the heck was going on there? http://www.news1130.com/2017/08/29/at-least-six-dead-in-a-month-atv-crash-claims-another-life-on-east-coast/

I find this hard to believe too! But we (DSBC and LSDS) cannot be held responsible. Nor should anyone from LSDS or DSBC take that responsibility. However we all must be aware that whether you are a two stroke racer or a big bike adventurer, we all get painted with the same brush. Those damn dirt bikers!!!!! Let's hope those who took it upon themselves to risk our forests get the message. Tom

The "Pass Trail" is only 1 km long and the hard part is the switchbacks. Easy with some skill and a sharp turning bike, otherwise its a get off and push, with a friend you can do this without damaging the trail. We took a closer look at this last year and it would take little work to upgrade the existing trail, as to not leave nasty ruts. However we think this would be a great DS bike trail and project with the TCT guys. What takes us only 1 hour to do take a hiker a day. I never see this as being a all encompassing ORV route as it is way too...

LSDS organizers set a high standard, hope all participants do as well. Hard to believe that any serious/mature rider would venture into the grass in these conditions. Eventually the word will leak out who the careless parties are.

Hi Tom, The road to the pass is not restricted, but I believe that the 1km of pass IS...I could be wrong, and I'd be the second one to admit it. Maybe I heard it from one of those "non-motorized" types... As for the feasibility of moving a "big" bike through there...since I usually travel alone, I certainly wouldn't want to try humping my DR650 through that as a solo effort...don't know if I'd even try the XT....but that's just me. I shouldn't have to keep reminding myself that there are riders out there with WAY MORE skills than I have...

TW, you are absolutely wrong about paleface pass, there is no motorised restriction, although many non motorised users will tell you this as if it were fact. However you are right that a big adventure bike would not be able to ride in its current condition. It is easily passable with a 650 ish size bike and of course bring a friend just in case. Number one problem of this route is that it grows in constantly, number two is it has a short 1 km section that would need some upgrading for intermediate riders to ride with confidance.

Very disappointing! Those responsible will probably never be found out, But riding grassy trails during a forestry closure, is one of the most ignorant things that you could do. And after the loose screw crew, opted to voluntarily cancel this years event, before the forestry people even closed the bush, I can't imagine anyone with any amount of responsibility, doing such a thing. whether it was some of our dual sport members, or very possibly locals on off road bikes ( it sounds like bermed in corners by fast skilled riders, so maybe this is...

I have had a brief chat with TCT president about the possibility of allowing motorized through this pass with the caveat that we help them maintain it and keep it clear. Is there any interest in that? I hope to meet with him again in September. If memory serves there are a couple of slides that wouldn't take a lot of work to clean up and about 4 corners that would have to be modified in order to make it passable for big bikes. I will let you know the outcome of the meeting in September.
