Here are a couple of blogs of plane crashes on Vancouver Island. They both make good day trips from Victoria or Naniamo on a dual sport.

Flora Lake B-24 Bomber: http://cameronsoftware.com/blog/?p=743

Mt Bolduc Lockheed Ventura: http://cameronsoftware.com/blog/?p=117

They are at the tops of mountains, so anytime from July through to October would be good. Easy access on a bike.

DirtClunker,

Years ago I was told there is a crash site atop Mt. Whymper. I have never looked for it and don't know any more than that. Any input from anybody ?

I am looking at organizing a ride/hike into the crash site on mount Kitchener again this year... Next weekend is calling for rain so maybe the following weekend will be a go....

On May 29 1944 , A B-25 Mitchell bomber [ hd 345] left Boundary Bay airbase in Delta B.C. on a training mission . It crashed into Mt. Whymper killing all 5 crew. They were buried near the crash site .
