Here are the details for the one-day dual sport ride in Kamloops area on July 8th, 2006: :ted:
The Greater Kamloops Motorcycle Associatiion (http://www.gkma.ca) (http://www.gkma.ca)/) is hosting a motorcycle weekend July 7, 8, and 9th at the Whispering Pines Motoplex up Westside Road about 20 minutes north of Kamloops. The concept is to appeal to families and moto-enthusiasts. There will be an enduro event which will include laps on the motocross track and a loop of single-track in the woods, various motocross track events for all ages, a SATURDAY DUAL SPORT RIDE, camping and stuff like that.
If you camp, there will be $20 fee...bring your own food and drinking water as they are not sure if a concession booth will be set up by the Whispering Pines Indian Band. Washroom facilities exist but water on site is NOT potable. If camping doesn't suit you, lots of rooms in town .....http://kamloops.hotel--canada.com/ (http://kamloops.hotel--canada.com/)
If you just want to do the DUAL SPORT RIDE ON SATURDAY, July 8th be at the track by 9:00 am. Departure time is 10:00 am sharp. Greg and Ged will be on hand as route guides. Bikes must be plated.
Greg Roesnik (Joker) has scouted a great loop west of Westside that will be Forest Service Roads from Westside Road, through Isabelle and McQueen lakes area, along Watching Creek and up to Jamieson Creek Road, along Scott Lake FSR to Gorman Lake FSR which brings us out at the highway just north of Barriere. Riders will then have the option of returning to the Motoplex via Westside Road or Hwy #5 and McLure Ferry (which stops running at 6:00 pm apparently). This basic route has several variations that end up in the same destination.
Maps will be provided which will highlight the route (No roll maps, GPS details or other high-tech guiding info available at this time).
Please indicate you interest in attending as this will help with last-minute map printing.
This ride will include one or two short pavement sections and be on gravel/dirt Forest Service Roads....no single-track skill required. The route had been ridden by a 650 cc and an 1100 cc w/ no problems forseen for even newbie riders who have some backroad interest and experience.
