Air box modifications (anti-flash back screen & snorkel removed) and a 152 main jet completed. The improvement to power through the range seems well worth the effort. The engine pulls much better from low RPM with 2,000 RPM now useful in forth gear and lower gears. Fifth gear likes to be 2250 to 2500 RPM.
Compared to a dead stock KLR650, mine pulls the stock bike in 5th gear roll-on from 2500 RPM up. The difference at lower RPM is noticeable however higher RPM's show a big difference. Mine now revs to 7,500 RPM quite nicely making red line a useful option.
There are two reasons for this post:
1) Information in case anyone has wondered about an easy power improvement.
2) Trying to connect with others who have undertaken this kind of work to compare results and explore additional tuning options.
