Some failures of ElectroSport statorshave been reported so I'm doing a bit of a "straw poll".

Have you run one?
Did it fail?
What type of failure ( charging or ignition)?
How long was it in service prior to failure?

Thanks,

Norm

I haven't heard on any problems.

They have been running these Stator's in FJR's model years 03 to 05.

4 weeks a gomy KLR died :(
The dealer thinks it’s the stator 400W and regulator

The dealer said “On the coil there is a reading between lead and ground and it should be none”

As I live in an apartment so I took the stator to the dealer to be installed.
I have less than 100 miles on the new stator and reg. and the bike died

I ended up with a $202.00 tow bill and to top it the tow truck dropped the bike!!!
I bet you know how I am feeling right now!

So far the costs are
ESG451 High Output Stator (KLR650) - $199 USD
ESR262 Heavy Duty Regulator Rectifier - $99 USD
Install $85.00 CAD
Towing $202.00 CAD
Testing to find out what’s going on $???????
Reinstall original equipment $??????
Canadian tax 13%

And I am right back where I stared from :mad3:

Bike dropped by towing company damaged tank, turn signal broken, faring and mounts damaged, busted shifter. Busted break leaver.

Will it ever end?
I would like to ask for someone to call the dealer to find out what’s going on with the ESG451 High Output Stator (KLR650) and ESR262 Heavy Duty Regulator Rectifier

I have called twice and emailed
when i called they said they will call me back
still waiting not happy

Sorry to here about the problem.

I installed the 300 watt stator (myself) no problems.

I'm using a datel voltmeter to monitor the battery voltage.

Also added a Oddssey battery. H/O headlight wiring kit and several ATO fuse kits.

I've used a Gerbingjacket liner, pant liner and Classic Gloves with no problems. For heat control, I'm using the portable dual controller (I have two bikes).
Also have theExplorer tank bag powered up with a powerlet tank bag kit. Good for running the cell phone and GPS.

I had been warned about the 400 watt stators, so stayed away. I'm thinking electrosport is in the midst of trying to solve the problems.

Sail_Lots,

What were the symptoms? i.e. No start due to dead battery, no start due to no spark but engine cranked normally, etc.

I've got approx 3,000 miles on my 400 stator and absolutly no problems. I fact I'm thinking of installing the 300W on a KLR250.

There are bad units in everything made. I personally have visited Electrosport and have spoken with "Electro Dude". If you feel that you have recieved a bad product, contact them. I'll bet they will attempt to make it good.

I know of a couple of others that have had problems and at least one of them was the bikes owners error on installation and they still stood behind their product and sent him a new one.

Give it a try, what's to lose?
