Hey Curt, how you liking the 950? I just put the engine back in my 640 after rebuilding it, should have her ready for a test tomorrow night. If all is well I may be into riding on the weekend. I have to do the break-in speeds for the first little while to seat the rings, so If we get together for a ride you may have to pull one of your spark plug leads off so I can keep up.

No riding for me yet, fired the 640 up and still hear some engine noise I don't like so out she comes again and this time I'm going to split the cases and change some bearings. I would much rather ride than wrench but I guess it's not in the cards.

Hey Lars, I thought about a lot of differn't bikes, including another round with a KLR, last fall but decided to stick with what I have. For my needs the 640 Adventure is the best bike out there and I will swap when something better comes along. Meanwhile I tore the engine down again, put a dial guage on the end of the crankshaft and found it to be tweaked a little past spec. So after I replace the crank and bearings the engine {hopefully} should be good for another 40,000+ km. A few other things I've done to try to help with longevity is switch the ignition over to the low octane setting which should provide a softer hit and have the machine shop take a little thickness out of the cylinder head well which will give the piston more room and lower the compression ratio a wee bit. So here's keeping my fingers crossed........

David.
