I liked these tires on my bike, they are very good in mud and gravel. Excellent on asphalt but they dissolve quickly on the slab. I guess that's the cost of good traction. Overall a good tire, and cheap like borscht!

they sure look good, I was hopingf to get a local source as I am riding with rimlocks so they can be a bitch to remove for a re-tire and also require some balancing. Usually it is worth the bucks to get the shop to do it...last time for new mt21 shoe-horned on it was I think $250.00, not bad for front and rear....

But then again I should learn to do my own tires....

Anyone know a local karoo source? I'd like to try them....

Yeah , I wouldn't mind trying a set at that price.

Our local 'Zuki' dealer has free instalation with any tire purchase. And great prices .

I am also on those at the moment, great tire, noisy etc, but not for long....hope they will last till Routledge....! I found the casing to be very tough / hardto change by hand compared to the TKC's.

Got a set from Western Powersports a couple months ago for about $60.....ea

Paul, you going to Routledge?

Hey...those are the same tires I use. Actually, I've only used that tire after the stock tire wore out. Great tire for gravel roads and dirt. A little noisey on pavement but worth the trade. I get about 5000km on the rear and 10,000km on the front.

They are steel belted as well. Prevents flat tires. That's why they can be difficult to install with irons & knuckles.

And they look knarley on the KLR!

Highly recommended by the Land Shark.

looks like western is going to do an install. There's no way I'm fighting with rimlocks, balancing, and son-of-a-bitch belted radials for an hour when I can drop another 20 bucks to get it done by a grease monkey. Hey I love to work on this shit, but some jobs are not worth the PITA factor:spl:

Sort of, I'm camping with a ton of family and friends up Otter Valley/Brookmere/Kane Valley Areastarting on the 17th and returning on the 24th I think. I was thinking of either riding downEARLY in the AM and doing the whole run, or just figuring out where I could meet you guys up near the Coquihalla or Murray Lake somewhere. Is the Routledge going past Murray Lake? <---Great place to stop for a swim after sweating your ****s off coming up from Boston Bar.

I'll get it figured out next week. I'll have a satellite phone with me, so I can get coordinated with y'all. The cell reception at the lake we camp at is pretty poor to non-existent. I'll be doing sweet rides all week prior to the Routledge, if you have some time avail, you should come up and join us. I usually have some cold Guinness, Stella Artois, Heineken, Pilsner Urquel, Konig Pils, Loewenbrau, Hoegarten, plus some others. And of course the single malts, and an assortment of fine Gins for martinis at cocktail hour. <---yeah, we're roughin'-it now! Nothing says, "living like our pioneer forefathers did" , quite like a cold martini shaker full of Bombay Sapphire, Hendrick'sor Broker's Gin.

Cheers!

Glad to hear you're giving Western some business as they're a great supporter of the local off-road & dual-sporting community.

For what it's worth, the Karoos in DRZ sizing are not the steel belted radials. Nice cheap tires, made in Brazil. If you have weight, horsepower, or an aggressive style, they tend to melt on asphalt. Since you're a trailer queen, they should last you quite a while :D.

The steel belted radial Karoos are made in Germany and cost quite a bit (relative to the comparable TKC's), and were designed for the big dualsports (150 width).

At least this is what I recall from watching Discovery....
