Team Grizzly is apparently putting on the 1st Annual Lost Bear Dualsport on September 10th. I haven't been able to find info on the event other then it being listed on their website (but I'm committed to going:cool:)

Does anyone have any info on the ride....Tom??.....anyone. Thanks:hb:

We have been doing a lot of talking at team Grizzly lately about the Lost Bear dual sport ride.

What we have come up with so far is that the ride will be in the Cultas lake area like the group ride we did last year on Sept 11.

I can guarantee that we will have a great B loop with some A options. We still haven't decided if we will have a C loop yet but I think it will be easy enough to put on a easy C loop. I will admit that the B and A loops will be our priority but if we do have a C loop I will lay it out with my R1100gs to make sure it is truly a C loop.;)

We were talking about doing an A rider only ride but I got out voted on this one. Just in case you heard any rumors about a really tough ride that only experts on 450s and under could ride. (I started this rumor myself so I know it's out there.) For this year that won't be the case.:(

I will be posting details when I have them. Plan for a great ride in the local Fraser Valley mountains and you won't be disappointed. Rocke

Okhere is the deal.

Saturday sept 10th

A fun FREE ride in the local mountains just to get everyone out for the day.

STARTat Cultas Lake. We will meet at the Road that goes up to Vedder mountain. this is the S bend BEFORE you get to Cultas lake. The road makes a right and goes down hill when it turns back left you go straight onto the dirt road. If you hit the gas station you went to far. You can park there. We don't have permission from the pub to park there this year so I don't want to take it for granted. We will meet at 9:00am!!!!!!!

We will do a loop around Vedder then head over church mountain towards chipmunk. We will do a loop over Mount Thurston and head out on the bench road. We have some A options available but all the by-passes are B level.

This is a guided ride so no roll chart holders are needed. We can break up into 3 groups so we don't all have to ride together.

No we don't have a c loop. If some one wants to guide a "c" group around feel free to arrange it. We would class this ride as a "B" ride that won't be KLR friendly.( sorry KLR guys it's not personal.)

I will start a list of who is comming so let us know.

Oh yeah we will have dinner at the pub when we are done the ride so plan for that.

You better clarify where this is at because at the start of the thread, it says Harrison. I've had a phone call from one person who still thought that's where it's at.:hr:

Sounds like organized chaos. I may not go.

I can't change malachi's post!! He asked a question and I answered it. IT WILL START AT VEDDER mountain which is next to Cultas lake. I Have started a new thread in the "this weeks rides section" that says where the start is also. We have ridden the route already this year and we are going to pre ride it on Friday also. I don't know what else I can do. I hope you come Bill it will be a fun ride. Rocke

Hello,

I am a newcomer and would like to join you guys on Saturday. I am new to the area and would like to know the distance between gas stops. Brad

bmw rocke

We will have a gas stop after the first 30 or so km. Then we will do the rest of the ride. I think the b loop is about 150 or so km. What are you riding?? Stock drz400's made the ride last year with plenty of gas to spare. Even Andy's xr650 made the trip without running out of gas. (to Ted's dismay):DRocke.

I ride a KTM 400 LC4. Most of my rides are in the 50 km range so I have never tested full range of my tank. I have a 11 litre tank and may consider strapping on a 1 galllon spare onto the back. I have a small rack that I built just for stuff like this. Brad

If you click the edit tab on the post you can change it. I know that Harrisonis what was put on the calender but we changed our minds. (we can be fickle that way);)

Malachi I didn't mean for you to take offence. I wanted Dirtybill to take offence!!:P He was sniveling so I thought I would poke fun but some times on the net it's hard to get your intentions accrossl.

I have been trying to let everyone know that we changed the starting point so I hope there is no confusion. Rocke

Hi guys, am looking forward to trying the Harrison(?) ride in Vedder Mountain on Sept 10. A slighty hot-rodded KLR will have to do. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead! 0900 at the dirt road at the end of the S turn? Sheesh.:?:shock:Hearty wave, Leon

Just rode a bunch of the course today. Some interesting things have popped up on the trail since last year. Was all passable and fun to ride though. I will be at the meeting spot at 9:00. I will be right at the road so you shouldn't be able to miss me.

We will be having a lunch stop so bring $$$. I have arranged a "special" deal for DS B.C. at a local fine dining establishment.;)

P.S. I don't want to make any more enemies but I wouldn't recommend this ride for a klr 650. If you want to come you do so at your own risk. There will be parts that you will have to skip. Rocke

For you riders looking to improve your riding skills, this was the ride:clap:, Its Sunday at 10:00 am and I am just getting up:ss:. Slept like a baby last night. Many thanks to Rocke and Keith for organising this truly skill building event. I had a blast :). Even riding the old Mystery Creek Buffalo Jump:hr: was worth it, hope you guys throw it in next year.

Ditto. Rocke and Keith put on a great event. Thank you both!

A little surprising that only twelve of us participated, but I suppose we benefitted from the smaller class size.

As usual, I was schooled. To the ten of you that were helpful, picked up my bike, showed me lines, lent me a wrenchor gave me meds, I thank you. But Tom - GFY :).

Ted had to excuse himself due to running low on fuel? What part of 'get gas now' did he not understand in the morning? Ah well. He did give me decent advice on jumping wet logs at speed... an hour or so after the log crossing.

Tom, I guess 5 + endos must have taken their toll on you. I went to bed around midnight and was at Timmies at 7am. Just got home from the farmers market.

Funny thing is that I don't notice any discomfort in my (PoisonMtn) right knee now...

Rocke, Keith et al,

Thanks for the thrills, spills and good times. I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I joined your ride but I sure enjoyed myself.

Tom, I made it 134 km before I drained the main tank on the KTM, sailed the rest of the way back to the truck on reserve. Now I have a benchmark for my range. You were right on the volume, it is not 11 litres only 9. I filled it up in the way home and squeezed 8.5 litres in it. I checked the manual when I got home and saw that the European EGS had the 11 litre tank.

I looked at the calendar and saw to my dissapointment that I will be up in Kelowna for the week of Nov 3-6 on business. Tip a pint for me at the annual ball.

till next time, keep the shinney side up.

Brad.
