Good link.
This bike is currently on the top of the list when I replace my old GS next year.
Thanks for posting this up.

This bike is also on my list. I love my W.R. butI believe the 800 will be more gravel and asphalt friendly. The only problem I can see is availability. I don't like the atitude of the salesman I spoke to. It was sort of like he figured he had something I wanted and I was going to wait and pay whatever he wanted.:mi: The B.C. economy is slowing down and we will see who is in the drivers seat next year. In the meantime I'll enjoy my W.R.

************Avert your eyes if you are offended *************
BMW Canada has been given a larger allotment of F800GSs than they were originally told. This means, in our case, the orders that were supposed to take 'till Jan to fill will be filled by then end of Oct, at the latest, and we will have extra product available after that. So if you are interested a visit to your local dealer might be in order.
If you just want to take a look the bikes should starting to arrive within two weeks, but they probably won't be on the floor for long!

Me and Aurora each put a down payment on one from Pacific. The guy told us that there are 5 coming in the shipment - 4 already has down payments on them and the 5th will be a demo bike.

"Here I sit, broken hearted. Paid a dime, only farted." Is this an appropriate quote?

I was at Pacific today and saw the F 800gs in the crate coming off the truck. The dealer on Vancouver Island is saying that he has deposits on 18 bikes.

As Taylor and Brian will attest, I am now one happy camper. Finally got out the door into the pouring rain and rushhour traffic with the new bike. After the initial embarrasment of the minor incident in the parking lot in which the bike went over due to my too short legs(no damage and a lot of helpful hands to get me back up quick) I was off on the maiden voyage. Lesson learned, I am going to have to be very careful about getting the side stand up from now on. Or get a pair of Elton John boots! On the road the exhaust note was not even short of beautiful. And unlike some have said, was quite audible at all speeds. The wind screen worked perfectly for me with absolutely no buffeting. The signals were a bit of a pain and the cancellation button was really hard to use, causing throttle blipping trying to find it. Finally gave up and let it cancel itself. Interestingly enough, it won't cancel at a stop and the faster you are going, the quicker it cancels. Headed out towards Mitchosen into a hard, cold rain. I was dressed for it but after a half an hour I noticed the ol crotch was gettin damp. This grew into an uncomfortable swamp and pointed me in the direction of home base. Seemed that the riding pants were no longer waterproof. Anyhoo, the bike got the baptism she was made for and performed flawlessly. I could feel the slickness of the newly wet roads and the brand new tires to a point of the rear wheel breaking loose on accelleration from stop signs so I babied her home. Now she's covered with rain spots! Waaaa.

Congrat's. Does this mean we no longer get to hear you wine about not having a bike and bitching about how long it was taking to get your bike? :mb:Better see you tonight.

So, it's been a few days, how are you liking it overall? Any specific dislikes? I'm really curious how it performs on the trail too...

Last weekend I headed north of Qualicim just to put some miles on her. She is absolutely one rock steady, smooth and nimble road bike. Hit a couple of dirt roads and she was still comfortable but I have to say the Battlewings are definately a road tire. I'm gonna see if I can burn em out on my trip and get something a little lumpier in the States.
Have you looked into getting some crashbars to protect the side panels?
ToadRide

Seems all the crash bars I want are backordered. Prolly get em at a Beemer dealer in the States.
But, get this. Today I tested the accuracy of the computer. Fuel warning came on and it said I had fiftyish kms. left in the tank. Was heading home and kept watching it. Pulled into my drive with 8kms showing and it died right in front of my garage. How's that for horseshoes up the old keester? Least now I know not to run any lower than ,say, 15 kms on the computer without a refill.
