So I've almost made my mind up to get a TE 450 08 new.

any last minute compliants from anyone out there at all.

I have heard only one compliant and that is viberation on the highway????

I am parting ways with my crf 250 r, because I find without the plate I get left out of alot of dualsport rides. This bike was about as fast as you could get in the tight trails so not sure what to expect from this hushy.

I'll be keeping my klr 650 for another year as I plan to ride Baja this winter.

Anything at all that anyone would like to say about their husky.

the bikes are really nice! the parts dealer support is the stickler. I think it was OTG that summed it up best with his joke-Husky parts are really expensive you know, but it really doesn't matter cause you can't get them anyway. last i heard bmw was still setting up the parts warehouse's. they started about 2 1/2 years ago,so it should be up and running soon! that being said- husky's may be one of the few off road/plateable bikes we have to choose from in the very near future.

I have a good friend with a 08 TE510, I've spent a fair amount of time riding over a variety of terrain.

Cons: The front fork is brutal. Way too stiff over the small stuff, really beats you up. Could use a re-valve. This is for a 190lb-200lb rider.

Sidestand needs fixing, bike wants to fall over

Stock rear license plate holder needs to go, it will get broken.

Stock muffler is a heavy sucker, solution is the factory power-up kit.

Pros: Suprisingly nice rear shock action.

The rest of the bike is really nice, perhaps with the exception of the 2x4 seat.

The chassis is super-stable, really don't need a steering damper unless you really like rock gardens.

THE ONLY CON I CAN THINK OF IS THE TRANNY. I HAD A TE 450,WHICH IS A WIDE RATIO TRANNY. NOT! MY 525 EXC IS WAY BETTER SPACED THAN THE HUSKY. I CAN CRAWL IN 1ST ON THE KTM INTHE SLOW STUFF,AND STILL DO ALMOST A BUCK-60ISH WHEN I FIND ENOUGH OPEN SPACE (BAJA) WITH THE SAME GEARING! BUT COUNTER SHAFT CHANGES ON THE HUSKY ARE A BREEZE-SO JUST THROW A DIFFERENT SIZE IN YOUR POCKET,AND YOU CAN STILL COVER A LOT OF GROUND.

Better question wouldve been "Does anyone love their husky" and this thread would fill up. Notice the only two guy's comented on the bikes and cons are the one's that don't own one.

If you want an alternative to the pumpkinpatch then the Husky is in the same leage. Period. Everybike has it's quirks.

The Husky revving more on the highway may be true, but in the end both bike are using the same % of available revs since the Husky has much more to play with than the EXC.

oh ya-i know what you mean! i wasn't trying to start a -my bikes better than your bike kerfuffel, just replying to the question that was asked.

i was looking at the new HUSKY as well but chose the KTM -it has more power and more aftermarket stuff availiable -[e.g. gas tanks,modding parts for engine,wheel kits,etc]..the dealership that sells huskys wont lower their prices -so i went elsewhere ..huskys are good bikes-i had one [TE 510]once, the only beef about it was it was a gas pig and had to be cranked on [reved out]to ride it [no torque]..just wanted to try a ktm this time around-i recommend to try out each type or look at them closely and read rider impressions before you put down 10k on one..:D

Yeah, it is true that KTM's have more available to them in the after-market.I don't own stock in any of the bike manufacturers thus I never put too much stock in the name on the side of the tank.Give me a bike that suits my needs at a great price & I'll ride it even if it says 'Zellers' onthetank. Right now the bike that "does it" for me is the 2010 Husky TE250 & I can't wait til the new engine makes it way thru the rest of the Husky line-up (hopefully no later than 2011).

i love my husky!

parts: haven't needed any. i broke some plastic, but fixed it myself. oil filters are easy to get, they are in stock. how many parts are you planning to break?

dealer service: well you wouldn't expect to get dealer service on a used bike would you?

i ride my bike pretty hard and haven't had any problems at all. this is an awesome bike!

kelowna bmw is a little out to lunch on pricing, but find one used and save some bucks.

Hey Zoo -

I have an 07 TE510, bought used. All maintenance done by me, parts ordered off the internet (Hall's and MotoXotica) so local dealer support not really an issue. It IS an issue if you buy new, because you count on them for warranty.

Pros for the bike: Light, has been mostly very reliable (18,000 km now), LOTS of power available, great suspension. Valve checks, oil changes, other basic maintenance very simple. I had a DRZ before and hasn't been any more work than that bike.

Cons: close spread gear ratio. This is only a con if you ride on the road a lot. If you are exclusively off road, it would be a pro instead. Bikes have trouble with the hydraulic clutch system, fortunately a cheap aftermarket replacement is now made (7602). Not a huge aftermarket for the bikes (ie racks etc). Last, you will go through lots of rear tires.
