Corbin vs Renazco
Aftermarket Dual sport seats for wet B.C.

I've got a XR650L that has a stock seat, that is like sitting on a 2x4 wrapped in a towel. So.. what are the options?
-Corbin: mass produced, wider with many covering options .
-Renazo: is all the rage, custom comfy , but slow tern around. And I don't think swayed would stand up to B.C. rain an mud.
What you guys think??

Ride down to Rich's Custom Motorcycle Seats (Google 'em for specific directions) just north of Seattle. Rich'll make you a custom seat and tailor it to your specific size, shape and riding position. He roughs it out and then you take it for a half hour test ride. When you get back he makes adjustments based on your input. This procedure is repeated until you're happy with the result. If you decide it's not quite right after a couple of months or so you can take it back and he'll make further adjustments until it's exactly the way you want it - no extra charge. It's a bit more money up front but the end result is well worth it.

But if that's your riding partner we see on your avatar what the hell are worried about a seat for? I'd think you'd have better things to do with your time.

I have a Renazco seat and it's not suede, they have plenty of seat cover choices. Renazco does require you to send in either your seat pan or a donor pan and they build on it, they don't require it until about a week before your build date. I bought another seat for cheap on ebay and sent it way early and it worked to my advantage, I got my seat about a month earlier than my build date. The result is a kicka$$ seat and it doesn't weigh any more than stock. I don't have any experience with Corbin but I hear that they make their own seat pans and they are much heavier and not built to your specs like the Renazco is.

Either way, it's got to be better than stock!!

renazco make a great seat with lots of choices but you might get luck and get the new seat in 4 moths form the date you order. Check out xpc they also make seats and are similar to the renazco but with a better turn around time.

Good Info guys thanks . I've E-mailed XPC. I may drop off my seat pan on my hollidays. Here is XPC reply.

Rick,

Our address of the plant is:
31855 Corydon Rd.
Lake Elsinore, CA. 92530

Please let us know when you would like to drop the seat off (We do that by appointment to make sure that we can come out of the shop up front to meet with you). But you will have to leave it for the build. We can then ship it to whatever address you wish. At the moment we do not have any XR650 pans in our ownership to build from.

Below is how the process works when a customer sends in a seat for modification.

Should you decide to have us modify your seat, we will consult you at the beginning of the build to get iron out your issues. Also, I have attached an order form (the order area on the website really just prompts us to send you this actual order form). Please be as verbose as you wish with describing issues regarding your seat modification (i.e. is the slope OK on the OEM seat or should it be more level, or do you want height added to the seat etc…). This form should be sent in with your seat (you may e-mail it back to us as well if you wish). website is www.xpcracing.com (http://www.xpcracing.com/) for further info. Our turnaround is approximately two to two and a half weeks (from when we receive your seat and when we ship it back out to you) if your order form has been completed and the build has been authorized by you.

Pricing is as stated below: (there is usually an extra cost if a rear “step up” seat is to be modified as well for adventure and street bikes, custom embroidery, and for other certain bike models that have specific issues to be dealt with etc…). If we build from one of our seat pans in stock, please add a $100 refundable core charge. Core will be refunded at time we receive your OEM core shipped back to XPC after you receive your XPC modified seat.
