Somewhat of a pain but now done. Time was a little over an hour and a half. had to use the dremel to modify the clip that holds the headlight in as well as bend the spring. What they don't tell you when you order http://www.ebay.ca/itm/35W-Motorcycl...item415d35d83f is about the modifications needed. If you look at the pic of the actual bulb you'll see 3 wires coming off at a 90 degree angle and the clip doesn't fit past that. Plus you have to widen the spring to get past the bulky part and then bend it back in place so it is more snug against the skinny part of the bulb. I don't yet know how much brighter the headlight is but everyone says an avg. halogen bulb puts out about 9-1200 lumens while HID is closer to 3000 lumens. You also have to cut the rubber boot to fit over the thick part of the bulb. Since there is no filament to light the bulb as it uses an arc of electricity they have no way to make it high or low beam. They found a way around that as the actual bulb moves back when high beam is turned on and moves forward when low beam is on. You also save on electricity as the bulb is only 35 watts. Shipping to Canada was 25.00 but only 5.00 within the USA and I use http://www.hagensofblaine.com/index.php since they only charge 2.50 to accept packages on my behalf. To save even more electricity you can visit your local http://www.princessauto.com/pal/ as they have an LED license plate bulb. It is literally a direct fit. Only needed to cut the connector off the old license plate bulb setup and attach it onto the new one with some heat shrink tubing. I did not use the steel light shield as I figured no one is gonna be blinded since the fender blocks light from the back side. http://www.princessauto.com/pal/prod...-License-Light They go for 11.99 but they do put them on sale every once in a while and I got it for 5.99

Have been at this site a couple of years ago and was happy with the clean hot showers and full hookups. They test there water and it's great so no need to truck any in. There is a ton of C+ rides in the area and the frazer should be booming by then. The Host is a real nice fella and watches over the place while out on the bikes.

I am looking for a map source here in the lowermainland. I tried a funny store in Richmond but no joy. I previously ordered by mail but am in a bit of a pinch for time.

The mape are for work and must be Canadian Topographic 1:50 000 or 1:250 000 for dead reconing as well as field survey.

I do not use GPS or Backroad Map Books as they are not for reliable navigation in the field. Any map or GPS plot of Elaho Valley would be good as well.
Thnx

DSBC and the Right Nuts ATV Clubs have proposed a Work and Play Weekend at Tamihi

The RN's have acquired a bunch of trail signs from our local NR officer, these trail signs need to be installed. As DSBC riders use the same trails I have gone ahead and volunteered a bunch of people from DSBC to help. The usual applies, lots of hands make little work. No one gets paid and the final plans are not finished (so we dont know how many people will show up) If we can scratch up some funds or support we will have lunches and water available (but dont count on it just yet)

The Plan:ted:

Camping Friday and Saturday Night at Tamihi West Campground (you will have to pay and reserve your site, its only 13 bucks a night.) If you want to reserve a site you will have to phone the holiday monday otherwise you will not get a site

Fireside Chats both nights, bring your own drink and marsh mellows

The Work- All close to the campground:wi:

Install Trail Signs - simple work that will require lots of talking:TTT:

Clear some grown in trails - Wear hiking boots, easier trials

Re open Trails closed by the logging. - For the younger crowd, will require a little mattock and shovel work

Clean some trail grades - some washed out grade that need the big rocks rolled off so intermediate riders can ride the trail

If thats not enough I can find more

I know I can count on the regular guys, and I will need them to help organize. I would like to have some new people to show up, I would hate to be outdone by the quad guys:cross:

Great opportunity to get your camper out and your boots muddy

Post here if you think you might be able to help

Thanks

My Bike died just before 264 st on the hiway.

I tried to start it back up, it back-fired, ran a few seconds and died. I finally got it going after 10 or so minutes and started back home. After it stopping 4 times and taking around 10 minutes each time to get it back running, I got off the hi-way. (The Bike would do a two or three km and than cut out on the hiway.)
Once I got off the hi-way and rode the Bike at 60 km and it was fine for the remaining 12 km ride home.

(I had just bought gas before I hit the Hi-way.)

I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I should be checking. The bike is F.I, 08 husky 610. All the other electrics were working fine.

Thanks
Just in case you missed it on cafe husky. This should be a direct replacement for the fuel pump that is giving me trouble. Better than $600 for the whole assembly from Husky. Hope this helps someone else who is having trouble with fuel pump. I think it fits most huskys

I think I'll head up to a plane crash in the Shawnigan area early Sat morning - like 9-9:30 at the bridge on kapour main.

I'll take my trails bike so I wont be bombing down the roads very fast.

Most of it would be new/old logging roads. Couple of creek crossings. There is a ride up a hill that is pretty rocky and washed out - not a problem on my trials.

A few weeks back I was stopped by snow at the top, hopefully with all the effin rain it has washed away - we'll see. There might also be other obstacles, like UFO landing spots.

If anyone is interested, PM me.

This is my first post and it's a sad one. I was sitting on my bike Sunday at 1:00am dreaming about the mornings sweet trail ride, went to bed, woke up, oh my! some stupid bastard took my Freedom Machine!!!! I have attached a recent photo. My kid is on there... it's the only photo i have since i updated the fender and rear shocks. please take a look at the bike and keep an eye out for it on the trails. it's probably painted black or something, it may have some different fenders now, who knows. All I ask is if you see the bike and think it could be this one, call the cops. I have reported the bike stolen. I highly doubt I'll ever see it again but hey, at least I'm trying. thank y'all.

The time is here to start working our way into the high country to find some new routes for you. Loose Screw will have a much-revised B route this year for your riding pleasure. Last year's B was a bit difficult - we will improve it this year. The B is now very different than in earlier Loose Screw years. Come out and give it a try.

If you haven't made it past lunch on the B+ in the last two years, go for the B this year. I promise you will enjoy it.

Highlights! The new B is shorter, around 200km. Lots of gravel has been removed, more dirt track. Very scenic. Lots of great views and you should have time to stop and enjoy them.

I didn't make it too far today - spent too much time fighting through the white stuff.

Stopped PDQ after flying this little lip. The snow is packed pretty tight from the sleds. Needed to go about 30 feet in the air to clear the snow - not likely!

Stay tuned...

SOLD

9600 Canadian. The bike is located in Kelowna, BC, Canada.

I currently have to bikes when I've only ever meant to have one. This KTM was purchased to replace my XR650R which I thought was "gone forever" due to a bizarre series of events by a shipping company. After purchasing this new bike the XR650R was returned to me, so now I want/need to sell one or the other.

This 530 is brand new - it has a total of 1.5 hours on it, of which 0.1 hours is from me and the rest is from the dealer. I bought the bike, brought it home and immediately installed the JD jet kit, fan kit, carbon fiber header guard, and Seat Concepts seat. I started it, ran it half a block down the street to ensure it was running properly, and then parked it in my underground parking stall where it sat until now. I also have the Euro style fender for it with flush mount signals already attached, but haven't mounted the fender yet.

Because my XR was returned to me I'm now faced with the choice of which bike I want to keep - both have their strong points (for my needs) so it has been quite the dilemma. To help me resolve the situation I'm putting BOTH bikes for sale and will keep whichever doesn't sell. I also have a third option which is to keep both bikes, so I'm not willing to let either go for anything less than a fair price.

So, this KTM is for sale at $9600 Canadian, which includes both the installed and uninstalled accessories listed above. This bike was listed at the dealership for $10,500, and the accessories listed cost me $690 (including a very decent discount from the dealership) plus my time and effort to install them, so you'll be getting a brand new machine at $1600 off the price of a "new" bike.....if you can find one (they're basically sold out across Canada - I'm not sure of the pricing/availability in the U.S. at the moment).

The XR650R will be posted in another thread.
This is a stock picture of the KTM 530 EXC, which is accurate for my bike:

SOLD

For sale is a street legal 2000 XR650R with under 9000km’s. $7,000 Canadian. The bike is located in Kelowna, BC.

I assembled and hand built the street-conversion kit for this motorcycle, using a Baja Designs kit as the base and upgrading components to give a better result than a stock Baja Designs kit. This also includes a rewound stator by Baja Designs that gives 250 watts of power (an aftermarket Ricky Stator with 200 watts will also be included in the sale). I have all the instructions for the electrical system and will give the buyer a thorough explanation of the entire system and its components.

The exhaust system is fully uncorked (and jetted accordingly) but remains street legal. I’ve jetted for 3000’ elevation so riding from sea level to 9000’ and beyond can be done without re-jetting. Additional jets will be provided for riding above 12000-14000’.

Other notable additions:

TrailTech Vapor Speedometer
Acerbis 6.6 gallon (25 litre) fuel tank
GUTS Racing seat cover over custom widened seat.
Aluminum skid plate
IMS footpegs
2 - Exo2 heat controllers for heated clothing or electrical accessories
Cycra Hand Guards
Symtec Heated Grips (under normal grips)
DirtBagz racks & subframe with DirtBagz Ranger bags (15 litres capacity each – 30 litres total)
Currently equipped with Heidenau K60 tires
New DirtTricks front and rear sprockets and D.I.D. X-Ring chain.
KTM Radiator Fan

I am 6’4” so the handlebars have been set up with both standard and Rox Risers. This configuration is easily movable or adaptable for your height.

This bike is in perfect running condition and has been meticulously maintained. Oil changes have been done every 800-1500 miles using full synthetic oil. The bike is properly jetted so it starts on the 1st to 3rd kick when cold and the first kick when warm. I averaged 42-44mpg in most conditions (both on and off road). Aesthetically the bike is in mint condition – there are only minor marks from being ridden.

Most of the original parts (gas tank, skid plate, headlight, etc.) will be included with the sale.

I also own a brand new 2011 KTM 530 EXC which is also for sale here on DualSportBC. I am keeping the bike that doesn't sell first!

Hamon (Travis) is about to complete a fantastic adventure and what better way to end it than to meet him on the last day of his ride and accompany him home.

On Friday, May 11, we are meeting at the Ranchers Restaurant at Bridal Falls. It's on the south side of the freeway about 20 miles west of Hope. Try to get there by 9:00AM and we will leave no later than 9:30AM, or as soon as all the riders who have posted that they are going have arrived. If you plan to have breakfast at the restaurant be sure to get there soon enough so that you can be out of the restaurant by 9:00. If you plan on coming on this ride be sure to post up and let us know because we will leave without you if we don't know you are coming and you are the last to arrive.

Plans have been made to meet Travis at the Petrocan Gas Station in Princeton on the corner of Hwy 3 and Hwy 5A on Friday, May 11, between 11:00AM and noon. We will ride north on 5A to Merritt and then take Hwy 8 to Spences Bridge and then down Hwy 1 to Agassiz where Travis' ride will end.

The weather's looking great, should be a fantastic day.

You're all welcome, hope you can make it.

We are planning to explore the Chilcotin/Cariboo region in August. Is it possible to get from Harrison Mills to Tipella on the Harrison West FSR in a Jeep? On the Backroads map there is a note just north of Doctor's Point that says 'bridge unsafe'. Just wondering if anyone has recent knowledge of this route.
Thanks.

I know this is last minute notice but if anyone wants to ride tomorrow....

I'm heading up on the Sea to Sky on Tuesday on my KLR. Meeting a round the world traveller, Noah, in Whistler at 10.30am. His ADV report is here.

From there we head up through Pemberton, Seton Portage around Carpenter lake to Lilooet. Will head up to Pavilion and camp Tuesday night at Marble Canyon. We split up on Wednesday and Noah heads to Alaska. I'll head back to Vancouver on the Duffy lake road. If someone else joins me I'll take the West Harison home - otherwise solo on the Sea to Sky. Should be a good 2 day riding.
Meeting up at 8:30 under the North end of the Portman bridge (no I do not live under a bridge!), before we head East through Maple Ridge. All welcome, can meet up en route as well.

Wed May9, will be doing an "ooober nooob" (sorry Kevin!) ride to Chilliwack. Big bike friendly, easy going, no rush type of a ride. If you are new to this type of thing, and have the time, join us, you will not be intimidated. Plan on meeting somewhere along Trans Can, between Vancouver & Chilliwack, 9ish. Will post exact place & time depending on who else is going. Don't be shy!

Hi guys, Dave brought in a new 2011 Nambo for me and I will be picking it up on the 30th of May.

Rosco has filled me in on a few things regarding mods but since you all are the experts I thought I could pick your brains for a bit as well.

So far Dave will be installing, EE hand guards with BONZ

Scorpion Rad brace/rad guard/shock link guard/skid plate.

New counter sprocket, I think a 12 (less one tooth)

Trials Tire

I think thats it so far, what about jetting, springs/valving, what steering damper.

Also, what about gearbox oil, mix, I notice that aflica is using race fuel.

Any info is much apreciated

Really looking forward to getting out with you guys again. Been too long.
He's not that experienced offroading, so we'll take it fairly easy once we hit the gravel (probably less so before then :) ).

Meeting at 10 am at the Westmount Chevron on the upper levels (exit 7).
