I would consider myself to be able to ride advanced stuff, I just don't do it quickly. No "expert" trails. I prefer small trails/single track.

Let me know when and where! I'm going to try to hit Vedder Mountain sometime this week.

Generally occurs Sundays @ 9:00 a.m. 240th and Lougheed Hwy., Maple Ridge. A good place to meet other Dualsporters, take a ride in the N.E. of Fraser area etc. etc. All riders welcome to chime in on the thread, add ideas, or just drop in for coffe or breaky. I may not be able to ride much on Sundays, but I do have to eat. If you plan on riding your bike out you should post up though, that way there won't be any confusion when your the only person on a bike and a few people are in their cages just havin' a DSBC BS session/breaky.
Cheers, Alex.

Hi guys
Looking for someone who wants to take my klr to South America, no charge.
We are doing copper canyon in 3 weeks. I will be leaving the bike in Mazatlan then sailing our sailboat to SouthAmerica. Should be in S.A. in about 8 or 9 months. I am offering the use of my klr free to someone responsible to ride it from Mazatlan down to somewhere in S.America. Then while we are down there, I want to do some touring afterwhich, again, we offer it for anyone to take back to US or Canada. The use of the bike is free, but you pay the traveling and getting it down there. Contact me at tr3jordy@gmail.com

This is gonna be a good, long one day ride on Sept 12. Meet up at the Old Settler Pub parking lot in Harrison Hot Springs at 8:30AM and ride up East Harrison, Kookipi, Texas Creek road to Lytton for lunch. Then up hwy 1 for 15km to the Nicoamen FSR and back to hwy 1 a few km north of Boston Bar. Then we can decide to return the way we came back to Harrison Hot Springs, or ride hwy 1 back to Aggasiz. One alternative on the hwy 1 route back is to ride the American Creek FSR back to the Lougheed about 18 km east of Aggasiz. The attached photo shows the route.

The magenta is off the pavement riding and the blue is on pavement. The red legs are the options.

Some of this ride will include some steep and technical sections which are not recommended for beginners and, depending on your skill level, might not be big bike friendly. You should be at least a B rider to do this ride.

This seems like as good a time as any to announce that the Dead Zone is now Dead. Passed on, No more, Ceased to be, Expired and gone to meet his maker.

It's been a lot of fun and come a long way; originally organized on a napkin by Tom & Ted, starting from the Onion Lake campsite with less than 20 participants...

Tom, Judy & I have been the main force behind the event these past five years. It's been an honour to host this party, but we are exhausted.

As many of you are aware, the riding area has come under increased pressure regarding 'land use claims'. Trying to satisfy the demands of other user groups / governments at the eleventh hour this year was extremely stressful and sucked the fun out of it...

We all love the riding area, but at this juncture a new 'base' for the event would need to be found, since Spences Bridge is no longer viable. That leaves Lytton, Lilloette or Cache Creek - all of which pose their own challenges. This seems like a reasonable segue for us to step aside.

We've discussed this issue with many of our volunteers in recent weeks, and there doesn't appear to be anyone to carry the torch into 2011.

With our (your) support of BCORMA, hopefully the challenges facing the region will get sorted out over the next few years. After a rest I'm sure that Judy, Tom & I could get this going again.

To the DZ riders, sponsors and volunteers, please accept our sincere thanks for supporting us and our event, and for riding these trails with us. it's been a blast!

Anyone interested in a ride/ hike on Church Mountian this Sunday. We have found an old grade running from what is called Bufflo Jump to the Tamihi FRS. This old grade has not been used in 20 or 30 years. Some of us have walked a small portion of the old grade, but would like to see if we can walk the full length, and see if this route is ridable. This is about a 5 km hike.
Meet at the Cultas Lake Golf Course 0800 for breakfast.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made the ride a success and a good time. It's the smiles and the laughter that make it into a good weekend. There were lots of laughs, some great rides, some good food, and many nice swims over the weekend. Many, many people helped out; I hope I thanked them all on Saturday night.

Special thanks go out to the sponsors who make it all possible.*** I hope the riders who went home with a new tire or GPS or helmet etc will remember that it came from one of the sponsors below. Thanks also to all the riders who generously bought raffle tickets - that money goes to support this website, the Loose Screw ride, and dualsport events in Kamloops throughout the year.

All B2 riders should mail a beer or other thanks to Neil(hawk), Mark(skidmark43), John(whatthehellisjohn'ssitename) and several others who sawed through the huge log that fell over the trail near the start of the ride. This was in an area which would have been very difficult to bypass for anyone not familiar with the area. These guys saved the ride - Thanks!! Thanks also to Terry and Doug who sawed out a tree even earlier in the day; before any of you got there.

Please put your pictures in the LSDS2010 picture forum so we can all see them.

We all had fun and we hope you did too. We'll see you in Chilliwack later this month and next year at the Loose Screw.

Thanks,

On Saturday, August 21 Farp, Phoenix and myself are planning to ride the Garnet Creek FSR to East Harrison. For anyone who hasn't done this loop, it is very scenic and there is a good variety of road conditions to ride through. A washed out bridge was recently replaced, so I am hoping the road will still go all the way through. If not, there is still plenty of good riding in this area so it should be a good day.

If anyone is interested in joining us, we are going to meet at the A&W in Agassiz at 8:30am.

I missed Farp's ride in July and was thinking of doing the loop using Farps GPS track as the route.

http://bike.stu.ph/rides/ride.php?ride=216

I planned to take this Friday off and beat the weekend traffic on the way up. Overnight at Lillooet and then down via Mission mountain and the highline road on Sat.

So far there are two up us (my KLR and a DR650). Neither of us are very experienced and we don't know the route. If there are others out there interested we might be able to get a group rate from the search and rescue folks.

A couple of serious questions:

Is the route hard to follow? I am thinking of the turn off from Harrison East to Nahatlatch FSR and then again at West Fraser. I was hoping there would be some signage of some sort.

Is anyone else interested and able to come along?

Cheers,

Ted
