Wanted- Dirtbike for my 5 year old

I'm looking for a bike for my 5 year old for christmas. I think a 50cc should be a good size, maybe up to 80cc? He's 4' tall
I cant afford "new" prices, but something that is reliable and affordable.

    I have a 72 (or is it a 74?) Honda CT90 for sale...brand new knobby tires...rectifier upgrade...with REGISTRATION...for $500 firm.
It doesn't have any signal-lights on it, but I'm sure they can be added if needed.

This is the ultimate "beginner" bike, if you can get past the fact that it looks like a Moped. Automatic clutch with 2 ranges, fairly lightweight, EXCELLENT mileage and in Low-range, it can climb a wall!
It isn't in "mint condition"...it's 37 years old and the paint is fading, it's a bit greasy around the engine area (although it doesn't drip or burn any oil at all) and the upholstery is showing its age, but she's got under 4000 original miles and should easily go for another 10K. Perfect "camping" bike.
I've been planning to sell it since summer, but other things got in the way. I've researched the asking price for this model and they can fetch as much as $1500 if completely stock and "mint condition". I have priced this one accordingly.
    E-mail me if interested.
It will be going back onto Craigslist in the Spring otherwise...

Thanks, tw rider. I think my son wouldn't be big enough to ride that because he is 5 and that ct90 is for adults to ride.

My son has a 2008 crf70 that he is out grown. Might be a bit big for a 5 yr old. stored in indoors and used about 5-10 times/per season over the past 2 years. $1300.00

You need to find him a Yamaha PW50. No clutch, no shifting, just twist and go, and it doesn't go too fast. I'm on the fence as to whether I will upgrade my 7yo to the CRF70 (that the 9yo rode this past summer) or keep him on the PW50 for another summer. What kind of a budget do you have in mind, the right $$ might just push me off the fence. I would also throw in some boots. pants and a jersey that should fit your little man.

Chris, you can't go wrong with the little PW. I started my son on one when he was 5 and it was perfect. Just don't forget to set the governor screw on the throttle before his first ride!!! And yes, that is the voice of experience, but it made for a great video!!! He survived, turned 19 yesterday, works for me now and is raising my granddaughter. They are a great, simple bike and tough as nails, as well as a lot of fun for dad to horse around on.

    Cheers!

I went to big top powersport in chilliwack and bought a "new" honda crf 50. Don't tell him, it's for christmas. It's brand new but it's a 2008. Out the door $1209, smokin deal!!
My 3 year old will use it next and we should get 4 years of use out of it. I think that paying more for a new one is easier than buying a used one that might need repair. Thanks for all the advise, see you on the trails.
    Cheers

Nice work! My friends bought a 2003 for $900 and I fixed it for them with $200 worth of parts, so you made out like a felon.

My earliest memory is from when I was 5 and my dad brought home my first bike. A Honda Z50! 51-1024x742.jpg
I can't think of another single thing that my dad did for me that I am more grateful for or that had more influence on my addiction to really fun sports.

Be sure to video his reaction as you will want to save that moment for him to view when he is older.
