Tunkwa Lake Area Closed to Motorized Use Under Section 58 March 2012

Tunkwa Lake, Cherry Creek and Six Mile

I am not fully up to date with this closure but I expect that it will stick. They are promising to have trails reopened in the future but there is nothing in writing

Please take the time to read and be informed. I will re-post as I get better information on this areas future.

This is a huge area and impacts a LARGE number of users as the report suggests.

This is very important to see how this plays out. I have yet to see anything in writing so I am a little skeptical on how things are going to turn out. Most of the grassland damage is being attributed to ATVs, but we motorcycles are not very highly regarded when it comes to grasslands damage. Too much renegade camping here as well. The area has just gotten so popular that they had to do something (that usually equates to "CLOSED") I understand that the government has some 400kms of cataloged trails, again I have my doubts to how many will be reopened.

Kent Antoniac from the GKMA Greater Kamloops Motorcycle Association is heading this one up for BCORMA and you local riders. I would suggest any of you that think getting this area opened back is a good idea, go down and support GKMA and buy a trail pass from them. Give these guys the support they deserve

Besides I would like to go back up and ride there again

    Hmm.....
So now all the "other" ares will get even more use and there will be a reason to close those ones down also.

Hmmm. Prolly not my place to ask this, but why is it again that WE SHOULD ALL BUY A TRAIL PASS ?

Read all of page 4 and page 6 F

I use to ride all of Bachelor including red face and sage grouse ridge. Now it is all closed. With proper management, and a voice at the table way back then, it would still be open. Show your support, as I would still like to ride off road within the law here in BC.

If your waiting for this area to reopen don't hold your breath, My guess would be the Park will be expanded to include the closed area, It has nothing to do with protecting the grass and more to do with getting rid of all the long weekend parties. The camping fees didn't help to disperse all the campers from the foresty sites. Who wants to pay money to use their pit toilet cause thats all they were offering.

Why was the Logan Lake cross country ski area included in the closed area? It's not in the grass lands! No camping and offroading, We want this area for ourselves is what they are saying to me.

The map does not seem to include Greenstone or Inks.
