New Boots for Father's days, but whick ones?

I have been in the market for new Dualsport boots for over a year. My current ones are 7 years old and leak now.

My Kids want to get me boots for Fathers day and I will just top off what they are planing on spending.

I have been lusting over the Sidi Adventure Gore-Tex boots. But they are 550 to 600 dollars in Canada and I can't get the right sizing in the Lower Mainland. If I could, I would get them.

Anyways, what am looking for are good water-proof dualsport three seasons boots with good protection. I want to be able to walk in water and not get wet. (I can do that in my Dainer gore-tex boots.)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated of boots that you can get in the Lower Mainland.

They are reasonably priced, waterproof and very comfortable to walk in. Based on my last creek crossing, I discovered that they can hold water in as well as keep it out.

I wear the same ones. I do love them however I've been looking for something a little more "dirt" and less "dual-sport" oriented though.

I was in the market for a pair of the SIDI Adventure boots earlier this year as well. However with Motovan buying out Steen Hansen SIDI boots are hard to find in Canada right now. International Motorcycles in Delta had some SIDI Chargers that I purchased and I love them. They also had some Crossfires but they fit narrow and I did not like them. Give them a call and see what sizes they have left. The Charger is a good boot for DS as it has a hinge point which makes walking/hiking a little easier.

Your ankle/legs are the most likely area to get injured during a crash. Therefore it makes sense to buy good insurance in the form of comfortable hard-shell boots. I tried on a lot of different makes at the Motorcycle Show - most are too narrow for my club-shaped appendeges - so I settled for a pair of Gaernes. Even with these I had to do a bit of careful heat-gun bulging to take pressure off of the ankle bones. But, as a clumsy beginner I have crashed many, many times and my legs have never felt a thing.

I have The Sidi Adventures, and Crossfires and they do fit narrow. The other thing to remember about any Sidi with an exoskeleton is that they are squeaky. Not a big deal for some, but mine are loud enough to scare wildlife (there is no permanent fix).


Does anyone have Gaerne Balance? I know they do not offer as much protection, but are they good enough for the general commute and easy FSR's? How bulky do they fit?

I have a pair of crossfires too and I like them. Their great for single track were I hit rocks and logs with the sides of the boot.

I also have a pair of 7 year old BMW enduro boots that I wear around town and when dualsporting. They started coming apart last year. I got them fixed, but they still leak in the rain and I want something with more protection.

I have looked at the Aplinestar Scouts and they look like your best bang for your buck.
