    Yeah, I came across a fawn on the road last week...same deal, left it alone and mum came and got it. Kinda reckless parenting if you ask me, letting the kids play in traffic.

    Does seem like a silly place to hide... Considered normal is for the fawn to drop down and lie still while the mother leads the predator away, usually this happens over some foliage which allows it's spotted coat to blend in... The fawns produce little scent while in the spotted phaze which allows this tactic to work most of the time... Some bears get wise to this especially with moose during the calving season and when the mother rushes off pay no heed to her and will continue to sweep the area to find the veal lunch...
