Canada Day Holiday Monday - Day ride anyone?

    Hello friends,

I know there's a weekend ride that some folks are putting together. I can't go, since it's my birthday this weekend, and have Sat & Sun booked up - but Monday's free. Anyone looking to ride?

C type rider, looking to get better.

pm or text/call seven seven eight.836.2911.

    Have a great long weekend!

That does sound like a most excellent idea !
If the weathers with us (c'mon sun, its soon to be July !), I'd be up for a blast Northward - Squamish, etc....

I might be up for a ride on Mon. If so I'll text you the day before and see if it's still a go.

Awesome chaps! Looks like there's a bit of a Squamish consensus ...

Volcon (Greg) has suggested Elaho Valley. I've not ridden there before - but if it's like the Mamquam area where I've ridden, it should be a good ride.

So unless it's pouring buckets, I'm good to go. Oh, and I get my handlebars and throttle fixed ...

Will post on Sunday to confirm "go" status.

    Cheers,

    Daniel

I'm interested in the Elaho. I've been in there a number of times (along with the Mamquam & up to the mine above Brittania). Make sure you can do 200 km gas wise, as that's what it'll take round trip from the North Squamish Chevron.

Be aware that long weekend = more traffic, which is something to look out for, though with the shitty weather there should be less campers in the woods.

    Monday works for me.

Elaho is epic, offshoots abound, and tis very scenic.

There's so much to ride there ! Hoping for a sunny Monday.

Squamish area sounds good. If it's over 160km round trip I won't be making it the whole way, but I'll tag along until I have to turn around. Please post the time and location for staging if it's a go. It'll probably be me (RXV550) and a buddy(450EXC).

Count me in. I'm a relatively inexperienced rider as I found out last weekend. Let me know if this ride goes together. Six O four, 418-8378

Just putting some feelers out. Is this gonna be mainly FSR's or are you going to be rocking some trails too? The Wee is yearnin' for some dirt if things are tame.

That being said, don't change the format for little ol' me. I'm at the non-committal stage right now.

Depending on where we're riding - looks like it'll be the Elaho, we can meet at the Chevron (North end of Squamish, last chance for gas) for those on two wheels, and where the tarmac ends (Km 22 in the Squamish river valley) for those without plates.
The Squamish river valley has many diverse trails, so even if some of us wanna hit some offshoots, others can enjoy the main road along the river.

Don: If this ride doesn't come together, give me a call. I've tightened the battery terminals, so we should be able to get in further

Will do, although it's looking to be wet at this point.

LOL - I never really thought of it as "my" ride ... Better get a plan together ...

I have time constraint on the tail end - need to be home (Surrey) around 1600hrs. By my math, the full Eloha looks to be around 4hrs to/from Squamish - those who've done it, please confirm/correct.

If the above is correct, AND I was to do it all AND be back in time, factoring in extra holiday time, that would mean an RV time at the Chevron in Squamish at around 0900am. Hope that's not too early ...

I'll be trucking the bike there too - I assume the Chevron should be ok to leave the trucks?

So 0900am at the Squamish Chevron:

    Chevron
    1902 Garibaldi Way, Squamish, BC

My cell is seven seven eight 836.2911 (Daniel)

Now, if the time to do the whole thing is actually much longer, I'm ok doing a shorter portion of the Eloha - as per Nez' request - and the folks who wish to carry on - by all means do so. As it is, I'll have to figure out some extra some extra fuel for my DRZ.

    See you there!

    Daniel

    Daniel,

    - to be home you'd need to head back by 2:00 at the latest, so that is cutting it short, as once you get in there, you'll want to keep goin :-)
    - takes about an hour from the Chevron to get to the good stuff (there's 22km of tarmac twisties pre-gravel), the real fun starts around km 36 (first offshoot).
    - Cant leave the trucks at the Chevron (no room), could leave em where the tarmac ends (km 22).
    - (dont base yer plans around my schedule but) 9:00 am in Squamish is to early for me, I'd likely be in Squamish around 10:00.

    Ok,

I was hoping against hope on the weather front - looks like Monday's forecast for rain still stands. For folks still wanting to do Eloha, it looks like 1000am works better - so by all means go for it.

Because of the time factor, I'm going to head out Chilliwack way. Forecast is for slight chance of showers vs full on showers - so I'm ok with those odds. There's options around Tamihi, Slesse, etc.

I'll be at the Tim Hortons next to the Abbotsford Petro-Can (Whatcom Road, Exit 95) at 1000am.

That should give options for those wanting to go East or North. Sorry I have to back out of Eloha - I really would like to do that ride some day.

    Cheers,

    Daniel

Please post up here if you're still interested in riding the Elaho tomorrow. I'm good regardless of the weather.

If the forecast calls for rain, that on top of a 3hrs round trip commute means I most likely will be a no show.
Would be nice to see the area at a later date though.

I'm planning on going, I'll be at the Squamish Chevron for 10:00am (could be earlier if needed). Will post by 8:00am to confirm.
