    Singletracks in Nelson/Balfour area

Taking a family vacation soon, staying in Balfour area. I'm wondering if I should bring my KTM with me or not, looking to ride some singletracks in the area. I know there are endless logging roads in the area, but I'm mostly interested in singletracks. Is there good stuff to ride in the area? Where could I look or who could I talk to in order to find trailheads, etc. I've got a street legal plate too if that makes any difference.

    Thanks.

If you're after true single track that's dual sport accessible then I think you're gonna be out of luck. But I'd bring the bike - you can have a ton of fun on the jeep tracks around here - eg on various power lines and on mountain access roads. Most of what I know is located west of Nelson - but I do know a few dirt bikers in Nelson - I'll ask them where they ride.

Thanks Revnelli for taking the time to reply. I'm really hoping for something that is easy to find and I can go for a quick little ride or two and have some fun in a few hours. My kids are under 3 and I won't really have much time to go 'exploring'.

    Ok got some more info
    1) The guys at main jet (352 3191)- n side of orange bridge - have a map of some single track on their wall - and do rides on Tuesday nights.
    2) my contact often goes up Rover creek where there is dirt bike friendly single track. To get there go through Blewett - to the reservoir and up the Rover creek FSR - about 1.5 km you will find trails going off near a switchback turn.

    Good luck

Well, too much crap in the truck meant I didn't get to bring my bike. Still had a great week in the Kootenays nonetheless. Too bad most of the beaches are underwater. I did stop by Main Jet and had a quick chat with Aaron on Tuesday, and sure enough, he invited me to ride with him that night. I'm planning to be back in the area in September, will hopefully ride these trails then. Thanks again.

Well I'm planning to ride these trails with a friend on Thursday afternoon, anyone know how much trail is up there? Are we talking 2 hours of entertainment, or more like 5-6 hours?

Finally tried these trails out last week. Fun stuff. Nothing too difficult, just good technical singletracks, but a lot of dust on the lower reaches. Good place to go for a quick 2-3hr ride. Thanks for the info.
