It took 6 of us to muscle the bikes over that little log bridge you built but we did make it through. There were two sections of snow about a foot or so deep and a couple of hundred yards long that we had to push through, and one big mud slide that we rode over. We had a couple of KLRs with us and they made it through so I guess you could say the route is open. I wouldn't try it with less than 4 riders though or you won't make it past the log bridge wash out. Hopefully some pics will turn up here soon.

That was another grand adventure. Thanks to John for organizing and leading the trip. I could have done without the American Creek hill - felt like a 1000 ft drop down a loose boulder-field. Burned a hole though my Joe Rocket pants when the KLX fell on top of me, but my mx boots saved may ass once again.
There's a lot of great riders out there who handle a KLR better than I do the 450KLX - so I have a lot to learn. But it sure is fun. Here's a eagle-eye view of the ride:

I saw Robbie Madison ride his bike off the top of a 10 story building in Las Vegas - but I wouldn't do it. The point is, Tom, that if I post on this forum that a route is rideable I mean that it's doable by a C rider on a KLR. A good trials rider on a trials bike could ride through that washout without having to build a bridge, but not your average dual sporter. So a couple of guys made it through by themselves, well so what! I don't want to mislead people who might not be capable of making it through that section into riding up there and then having to turn back. And it is a dangerous section. If you slip and fall off that bridge and you're by yourself it could be the last thing you ever do. It's not that high but a 3 foot fall onto rocks can be enough to do the job, especially if you're by yourself.
Incidentally, on the way up to that washout you cross a bridge over Big Silver creek. It's a very high bridge, maybe about a 50 or 60 foot drop down to the water. At the north end of the bridge somebody has erected a memorial cross. The cross is in memory of a guy who stood on the railing on the side of the bridge and was practicing karate kicks. Unfortunately for him he lost his balance and fell off the bridge and they never recovered his body. If he had not lost his balance he might have posted on some forum someplace that you could stand on the bridge railing and do karate kicks. Had he done that he might have induced someone else to try it with tragic results. This is a dangerous sport Tom; it's always best to err on the side of caution. So, I stand by what I said. Until that section is fixed anybody trying it would be well advised to have lots of help.

Yep, that's what it looks like alright. I noticed that in this photo you're going in the opposite direction to what we did yesterday. It's easier to access the bridge going in that direction. Going the other way you have to go over a pile of large rocks before you get to the bridge and it makes setting up for the bridge difficult, did you do it both ways or just one. I can also report that it was a hell of a lot easier to get my Beta over the bridge than it was the KLRs, so all you C riders on bigger bikes - if you're going to try this make sure you have help.

Off road riding has its dangers, I can only hope those who decide to enjoy this province of ours and get out of the safety blanket of the city understand that they take responsibility for their actions and dont blame someone else for their lack of common sense. If it look dangerous it probably is. I have been on this site for more than a decade now, it used to be I got complaints that some routes where too hard, I rarely see that anymore, however I did have to explain what "hard" means.
Please dont make me explain what common sense is, I have been accused of not having any.
Looks like you guys had a great ride and I look forward to doing this loop real soon, not to worry I have no one to blame but myself when I drop into the creek.

Tom was simply reporting what is fact, both riders made it through solo, one going on only because there was tracks in the snow meaning someone was still making it thru, both bikes were luggaged for camp travel.
What do comments like "stick to your guns" and "stand by what I said" have to do with anything, what nonsense. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of what difficult means, and I think Ron that what you find difficult, I won't.
I went to the zoo the other day. The only animal there was a dog. For sure it was a Shitzoo.

Didn't I start this site so many years ago so we could get the information out there?
I suppose we need to be protected from ourselves?
I will be sure to keep the really dangerous or questionable rides under wraps until I can be trusted. "Trust" one more thing on the list I dont have.

It's always great to know what some guys have made it through, and it's also good to use a little caution when sharing info with people as well. I say this because one day out riding I did not tell a good friend that I thought he should take the easier way around and he got hurt pretty bad. Not my fault... BUT my warning could have saved him some pain and suffering.
I'd ride with Tom and/or John anytime as I like and trust them both.

The riders going solo are taking a bit of a risk, but who am I to say after 3 days of solo in the Pemberton valley last week and off to explore the Skagit valley solo this week. If I don't come back here you will know why. lol

Totally agree with you about everything Jay. Some of the best rides I've had via this forum have been with Tom, although I'm usually fricken exhausted by the end of a Tom ride - but that's not a bad thing.
No doubt there are guys who would single handed take their KLR over that log bridge, but most guys wouldn't. I've ridden with Mark (Offworlder) a few times and I'm pretty sure he's in the category of people who wouldn't take the chance, primarily because he built the bridge and sent one of his group on a DRZ over it to scout ahead while he on his KTM990 decided not to cross. That's who my original remark was intended for. I was telling him that if he wanted to retry the route he should make sure he had enough people with him to muscle the bikes across because nothing had changed since the last time he was there and at that time he decided not to cross. I don't know why people who have never seen the crossing first hand decided they should offer their opinion but they did and it's unfortunately erupted into a minor flame war. Please people let's remember that we're all friends on this forum, we all like doing the same thing and there's no need to put people down or make derogative sexist comments just because they have a different attitude toward riding than you, or are not as athletic, or perhaps are just a lot older and can't do the things they used to. We all share a common bond in our love of motorcycles and lets not forget that.
