    Nice Job Boys

Its always rewarding to be first thru.

You guys are how I always describe dirt bikers "Cats" you will do anything not to get wet. Although the video is hard to tell it looks like the crossing will be ride-able very soon without the bridge, someone will have to break the edge first.

Time to start planing the summer riding in the mountains.

John, have u thought about the Alexandria bridge to Caroline Mine route?

The water is deeper than it looks, but I suspect that creek will dry up (or at least have significantly less volume) as summer goes on. It will help once the quads and other vehicles start to wear the edges of the bank down.
What's right is what's left if you do everything else wrong.

Now that was a really cool video to watch. Thanks for posting it. I gotta hand it to Hurrican Harry and IanB for attempting that bridge on their own on Friday. However Harry is a tough American and IanB is a crazy Brit so that probably explains it. When IanB got to Spences Bridge on Friday night the first thing he said to all of us was "which one of you was the crazy fool that I was following on the Kookipi? It was because of your tracks that I carried on". Sheepishly Hurricane Harry raised his hand.

    Hi Tom,

What a coincidence. I am just in the planning stages now for a ride on July 15 (last one before leaving for the Laguna MotoGP) that will leave from the Alexandria bridge and hook up with the Anderson/Utzlius FSRs and perhaps Spius; looks like it will be about a 170 km loop. About 12 km from Alexandria Bridge there is a fork in the road which will take you to the Caroline Mine if you turn right. We're gonna turn left towards Anderson River and eventually hook up with the Utzlius Creek rec site. Plotted the route in the Mapbook and pretty much verified it in Google Earth, looks like all the roads go through but you never know for sure until you get there.

It won't be long before the quads and 4WD guys bust the edges down and then the Kookipi washout will be a fairly easy crossing, especially after the freshet is over.

A motorcycle will go anywhere the rider has the ability to take it.

Kudos to Harry and Ian, that's not a crossing I'd want to do solo, and I doubt many others would either. Problem is that it's so far from the start that turning back is not really an option if you're en route to Spences Bridge. If I was out on a rec day trip riding solo or perhaps with one partner I'd turn back, but if I had to get to Spences Bridge I'd bite the bullet and do it but I'd be nervous as hell about it. Falling off that bridge and breaking a leg could land you in very serious trouble if you were alone. Harry has nothing to be sheepish about. That was a hell of a crossing to do solo and both he and Ian deserve a round of applause for making it.

There is nothing wrong with playing it safe and having a fun day of riding without getting hurt.

Looks like a little too much for a couple of F800gs riders at this point.
Guess we'll have to wait a few weeks before we can tackle that road.
