Looking for a nice loop to do - Campbell River

Going to be up in Campbell River for a few days. Any nice backwoods destinations? Lakes, mountains, waterfalls, interesting things. I'll have my plated KTM 350 so I can go most anywhere. "B" sections no problem.


Also any nice trials single track riding in the area? Be nice to get on the little swoopy.

Well a couple that look like fun:

- ride the CR hare scramble course
- the Mt Kitchner WWII plane crash (take the Memekay mainline back to CR)
- menzies Mtn lookout
- Giant Cypress on Copper Creek Main

When abouts will you be there. I am coming over from Vancouver and will be bringing my Husaberg over as well. I'm at Saratoga Beach from July 14-17th and looking to do a ride or two.

July 14-16. I'll probably do the Kitchner plane crash tomorrow. Its a 3km/300m stiff hike up and over the mountain to the crash site - pray for no snow. Perhaps to Menzies lookout on Sunday (easy ride). Then, if I have energy, take the trials bike to CR hare scramble course. I'll be at Elk Falls campground.

Well after riding up to the trailhead and hiking up Kitchner for an hour or so, the snow level got to be up to 4 ft deep, it was pretty obvioius that the wreck would be buried. Done that too many times (Flora lake crash and bolduc crash), so I'll go back in the fall when there is no snow. A little cooler too! Man it is HOT.
