I would love to join and was planning some sort of excursion up there this weekend. I was actually literally staring at the backcountry mapbook wondering how tech the crossing up over swartz lake to gaspard fsr for a solo mission is when I saw your post) Must be honest tho, I am a bit of a noob on an f800gs so dont want to be 'that' guy screwing things up if your crew runs 'A' team level. That said I am up for a challenge so long as the route is in line with a bike of this size. If this is not a good fit, all good, then can anyone comment on how tech /solo worthy the route is? (or coming from Tyax side). My fall back option is to pin it on the roads up toward gang ranch on Friday aft and muck around on more main line fsr's on the plateau. Thanks in advance, just tryin to get my beak wet so to speak

I don't think you'll be in any trouble on this one.
nothing too challenging, mostly site seeing in the back country, evrything is double-track too.

We tried that route up from Tyax and had to turn back 3 weeks ago. It was a lot wetter then, we decided not to chance crossing Churn Creek as it was running high and fast. Took a tumble at Swartz Lk and busted my hip but the bike is okay! That route has to be better by now.

There's something about those ruts in the road near the end of Swartz lake that freaks me out after spilling there too. It's a good spot to practice if you day trip from Goldbridge or Gun Lake.

agreed. That 25%+ grade down into that nice camp spot is where I did it on the way back up.

laid down my old KLr on that hill.
I went to the zoo the other day. The only animal there was a dog. For sure it was a Shitzoo.

3 of us went through churn creek on july 7th. all three crossings were seat deep on my 525 and 50-75 ft wide. everybody made it, even my wife on her lowered drz! she did a bit of squirmin' and squeakin', but she 'Churned" through with nothing more than wet feet to show for it!

Anyone know if it's possible to locate and ride some singletrack out in that region? I would like to do a mixed forest road - trail trip out there in September. I have only ever been on the main carpenter Lake and Hurley routes.
