    Kam- Out of Province Inspection

I guess I can get my 2007 525 exc inspected anywhere in BC between Edmonton and Kamloops. But most convenient will be in Kamloops.

I am most concerned about the aftermarket rear signals and front headlight. Has anyone got experience with the local mechanical inspections/ inspectors?

My rear signal and rear fender are poor right now and if I was gonna buy what I want I'd go with flush mount.

I have the front headlight wired for high and low on together or off. I mostly run with it off.

Why would you want to get your bike inspected

Is it from out of country?

TOM'S RIGHT,let well enough alone! I don't believe you have to get bikes inspected when coming in from alta, only cars and trucks. but if you do have to get an inspection done on your 07 525 exc,the only problem may be some cleanups on your lights and wiring etc. your 07 was transport canada approved canada wide. it's just like a klr, they can make you fix some stuff, but they can't sideline you.

I imported a bike from Alberta in 2005. All I had to do was go to BCAA and they came out to verify the VIN on the frame was what was on the paperwork.

It was a 5 minute process.

That's all very interesting guys - thanks. My bike is alberta plated and "DOT" legal as cactusreid pointed out.

I bought a 2007 640 Adventure from Vancouver Island in late 2010, brought it to Alberta for registry and Out Of Province Inspection was needed here, so I assumed the same would happen going AB to BC.

I can't truly remember, but I thought it was my insurance company that requested the inspection. I don't recall showing the inspection to registries.

I have AMA card for Roadside Assistance so I'm familiar that they sell car and house insurance here, but have never used them for registry so I was surprised when Bora20 suggested going to them.

    http://www.icbc.com/registration/
    Here's what ICBC site says:

you're bringing a vehicle to B.C. from another province or territory before the vehicle can be registered in B.C., in most cases you will need:

    • the vehicle's current registration
    • a "passed" vehicle inspection report from a designated inspection facility in B.C.
    • required ID, and
    • if the vehicle is not registered in your name, a signed and dated bill of sale. (Sometimes a vehicle registration document, signed by the registered owner of the vehicle and naming you as the new owner, is acceptable instead.)

To register, license and insure the vehicle, bring these documents to any Autoplan broker.

SO hopefully you guys are right and by going to BCAA or ?? I can skip inspection.

You can go to any ICBC reseller to have it registered, the "inspection" will be done by all and is just the VIN check. I just went to BCAA b/c they helped me deal with the insurance as I rode mine back from Calgary. They were also closer to my house

I would also suggest that you only purchase Basic & 3rd party from ICBC. Then call Megson-Fitzpatrick (forum sponsor so let them know) and purchase private insurance for your collision and comp coverage. Should be about $300-400 for the full year.

I also bought a Alberta bike No inspection needed. They just needed to see that the VIN # matched the registration papers.
