why a spot locator. lot of guy's won't buy one for one race? If you're in a team and one of the member dosen't return in a resonable time I think it's pretty safe to assume someone's coming to look for you.

This is a big area, and you are going to be 12 hours in the dark. My main concern is saftey for everyone. If you have to search 40 km loop for your team mate in the dark, this just does not sound like a good idea to me.This is not so bad if its a mechanical break down but what about a serious injury like a broken bone. We need a reasonalble reliable way to find the rider. I assumed that your team mates will be sleeping during the night and wont relize that your late.

I am open to suggestions, cell phones for instance. Rogers service works on the entire route. But now we will have to confirm that a rider has his cell phone before he enters the course, more work for the organisers.

You only need one spot locator per team

cell phone is a good idea if it works up threre.

Also is the route marked. I guess after the first navigation is not an issue.

I think the gps locator's is a good Idea, Is it possible to rent one somewhere?

In the past 24 hour (races) there was awards at the endfor thefastest teams,

Can I assume this is going to be a non speed event ? Our motivation is to see who can survive 24 hrs.

Does everyone ride their own bike or can the team compete on only one motorcycle?

You will be riding an enduro style event, You will be given Key Times to checkpoints, For now we are at 3 classes

Sportsman Class = will be the main course with the slowest time

Sportsman Hard Class = will be the hard ass course with slower time that the next class

Hard Ass Class = not sure how this one is going to work out but you can count on it being the shortest time on the longest hardest route.

Yes you can compete with one motorcycle, not sure why? but that up to your team, it will be the rider that determines what class they are in not the bike.

Your team may be made up of different classes of riders, you will ride the class you signed up for your other team members will ride the class they signed up for.

Your right, the idea is to make it for 24 hours. Most laps closest to key time

    It'll be fun

    Teams only
Minimum riders per team will be three

Your team will be responsible for your team members, if one of you has a problem out on the course your team members will be informed and your team is expected to go and get you.

No you must ride the bike you sign up with, there will be a technical check before the event. You will have to ride the bike you passed the tech check with.

You will have to remember that 1 loop will take over 1 hour so you wont get much riding as a team of 6. Lots of work need to be completed over the next couple of months but I think 5 will be the limit per team.

    No Plate required

    BCORMA Trail Pass Required

    Hey Tom

Thanks for doing this! It's going to be fun!

I think the hard ass course with the shortest time will be the best way to go: you can only be late....

The GPS finder is a good idea. Especially for someone like me - Igot knockedout twice last season - ask Jaques, he normally picks up the pieces... so if a rider is unconsious he won't be able to call for help.

Roll chart?! I'll help you put up arrows instead!

    cheers

    Sorry NO ARROWS

Not a race, you will have to learn how to navigate, I know its hard for you guys that come from the other side of the equatornever know which way is South. But that wont matter when its dark

Remember the Hard route is HARD, thats why we call it hard.

Yea its going to be crasy fun

What about a Solo Class for those of us who don't play well with others? Or more like for those who have no clue where they will be in September and will have to make it a last minute decision. BTW, what is the cut off date for registration? I anticipate that teaming up single stragglers is possible, but perhaps one prefers the challenge of a Solo.

Speaking for myself of course, an 8-12 hour Solo with half daylight and half nightime would be fun and challenging, a test of endurance and stamina.

Sorry NO SOLOS or IRON MAN you must have a team of no less than three

Your team will be responsible for each others safety It is a long loop with no help other than your team members, the organisers of this event will not be there to help you out, thats will be for you and your team to figure out.

    Maybe next year

The logistics of this event require that we have final sign up by June 1 2010, to reserve and co ordinate all that has to be done. I highly doubt that we will be able to accommodate the stragglers.

You have six months to decide if this is an event you will want to participate in, I cant give any more lead time than that.

Hope this doesnt sound to harsh but I cant wait for the last minute for things to fall into place and expect a good result.

Shouldnt be too hard to get a team together

    Thanks for asking

    Tom

Chris, Thank you for your question. TheBCORMA Trails for Tomorrow Trail Pass Program ensures that we will have riding areas in the future.

BCORMA is working hard to keep your riding areas and trails open, staging areas built to park and off-load, trails maintained & signed so you enjoy your sport, and having maps available so you know where to go.

All this takes money and support from riders, industry, and the Government. BCORMA and the clubs need you to show your support by buying a BCORMA Trail Pass. Money from the sale of Trail Passes goes towards the 1000s of kilometers of trails we help maintain.

What is the BCORMA Trail Pass for?
    • British Columbia has some of the best riding in the world
    • We have a $100 million of recreational infrastructure to maintain, with over 2,000 km of off-road motorcycle trails
    • Our goal is to have the best Provincial trails network system in the world

DualSportBC as well as other clubs in the province are selling Trail Passes. When you purchase a Pass from DSBC not onlyare you supporting BCORMA butpart of the proceedsstays within our own club. DSBC is selling the Trail Pass for $40

DSBC willbe selling the Trail Passes at the 2010 Motorcycle Showor you can PM me and I will give you more details on how to get a Trail Pass.

Sounds like it will be a fun event.

Does each rider need to decide which class they are riding before the event and then stick to it, or can we decide each lap before we go out ?

Will the Sportsman hard class have sections that are typical 'b' options, or 'a' options ? (hard is a relative term!)

Does the team have to ride non stop for the 24hrs, i.e. one rider out at all times, or can we take a break ?

What will the requirements for bikes be at inspection ? will motocross bikes be OK ? 80's KDX ?

    Thanks
