There is a 08 KTM 530 that was just posted on Craigslist with about 2,000 kms just recently. It may be worthwhile to look into. Here is the link

So I made a bunch of flyers with pics of my bike and the reward on it. A Commissionaire spotted my bike and called me. I called the police and they said they cant do anything due to the fact that the plate wasnt on the bike and the commissionaire didnt confirm the vin #. (He saw the bike in the box of a truck on the highway.)

So now i have a confirmed sighting of my bike but the police wont do a thing about it. Any ideas on what I can do next?

I'm not trying to be negative but how did the commissionaire identify it as your bike? It seems the bike is quite generic in appearance.

I hope you get it back and obviously the VIN is the major identifier. I would hope the police would make a bit more of an effort.

I wish you luck - lately this seems like a good place to find your bike.

I hope you can get your bike back andwith no damage. That sucks big time!! I will keep my eyes open when I'm out.

The police said they can't help you because the plate wasn't on the bike and the VIN# wasn't identified. The thief is going to get rid of the plate ASAP. I thought the police were suppose to do this. Heck they encourage kids to register their peddle bikes so they can find them. Theymust have other priorities,...checking out the red light district....guess!!

    Thieves ARE that stuuupid!!

My camera appeared on CL 30 hrs after it was stolen from my car. I called the cops after setting up a meeting with the thief. Police sting operation netted the thief....he was demo-ing camera's video feature to undercover cops, recording, when they busted him. The card came back with the camera and I enjoyed the recording of his arrest!!

No charges, even though he had a whole lotta other cameras and computers.....WHY??? Well, nobody had filed reports that detailed their serial numbers as stolen, just descriptions of the items stolen, sans serial numbers. He said he had bought my camera just a few hours earlier, on CL, so escaped the law. However, they had no prior info on him, had some then, when they were able to read/access his little drug-dealin network and fences, etc.

    But....no charges were laid.

Surrey's FINEST citizen....cruising around in a brand new, rented Grand Caravan, delivering dope on the weekend, pickin up cameras during the weekdays!

Hope you get your bike back.....I would never buy ANYTHING 'hot'.....see it as just paying someone else to steal for me.
