We have been out on exploratory rides intending to make a slightly different new route. With this really late spring the snow pack is unusually deep in the hills so we are way behind schedule. We encountered two feet of snow at only 1500 ft last weekend that turned us back. And the route goes over a 3,000' pass. So no officail pre rides yet. When the time comes your offer would be appreciated to help with arrows and flagging.

I've been watching the South Island forum for months waiting to see signs of the Orca run. There has been no mention of it. I just happened to be cruising thru the main DualsportBC site and found it this morning. I'm sending my registration in today. I'm planning a ride next weekend (Fri, Sat, or Mon not Sunday). Are there any pre-rides next weekend? i'm on a go just about anywhere Honda Crf230

Magnus, good timing! There was a pre ride posted on the Island page back a few weeks.
    http://www.dualsportbc.com/forums/sh...nday-April-3rd

Here's a tip. Click on 'New posts' on top of the forum to scan for future events or go to the Events page.
    http://www.dualsportbc.com/forums/fo...ticipate-in%29

That way won't miss a future event or ride.
There should be an A/B pre ride or two next weekend posted by Riskman, so watch for it!

So when you say registration is open a few more days.......

Sorry I'm late on this. If I get the cheque in the mail tomorrow, does that work?

    Thanks,

Cord, As long as you can open the link to print off the forms you are in.
Very soon, the link will be removed and that will be it until 2012!
    See you at the event!

Much appreciated. I was all set to go last year and had a minor accident on the way out so didn't make it.
Looking forward to it. Cheque sent tomorrow.

The first time I tried to post it had to go through a moderator, so that kind of limited my posting.
    I just asked for directions.
Have I done something wrong here?

Not at all Steve. As I pm'd, the campground has had trouble with motorcycle unfriendly neighbors in the past. They asked us not to post the address online. Directions will be emailed to all entrants before the event provided you gave Kiwi your email with the registration.

Hi all...ORCA newb here...I'm signed up for the 'C' route and just wondered how many might be running that route? Looking forward to the event and meeting up with a bunch of like-minded folks!

Welcome, I think you find that there will be 50 or 60 riding the C route. We will break up into smaller groups though, usually groups of 4 or 5.

I'm not convinced I'm yet up for the B route, hence I'm planning on riding the C route. I'm wondering if I'm OK on a "big" bike (F650GS twin), or better off with a little thumper (Beta 450) ? While the Beta is way more fun, the F650 has way more fuel capacity, and will allow me to carry my camping gear.
Q: are there are sections that require considerable underside clearance, or is the C route pretty much gravel roads and tarmac (that the f650 can handle) ?

    Thanks.

Your F650GS is perfect for the C route, basically a road ride - paved, gravel and logging roads. An interesting section of powerline that can be slippery if wet. Your Beta 450 is perfect for the B route if you have intermediate off road skills. Flip a coin, either way, you can't lose!

    Hello friends to the North.
For the last couple of years my friends (from the other forum) have be twisting my arm to do this ride. And lo and behold, this year it's not on Mother's Day! Hurray for me.
Looks like we will be riding up, on big bikes, on Friday. Really looking forward to it.

I'm meeting Hurricane Harry after work today to do some planning.

PS - Is TLGreen still active here? I've ridden with her and Claude a couple times in years past. Great people.
