    TKC80 and Dunlop908rr lifespan

What kind of mileage have people been getting out of these tires.Has anyone tried a 606 front and 908rr on a 990 adventure?.

Where do you want to ride it? I really liked the TKC80s on my 1150GSA and 650X-Challenge on the road and on fire roads. Once into "real" off-road situations (ie. mud) they were not great. True 50/50 tire.

As for the D606 front, DSBC riders seem to prefer the Pirelli MT21, however, that is on the smaller bikes. This is usually coupled with a D606 rear.

From what I remember of Joker's 908RR, it didn't last long, but no rear tires last long on that bike

I've run a TKC 80 on my 640 in the past and really like the fronts... The rear was good as well but only lasted me a little over 4000 KM which is not enough to justify the cost of the tire....On the 990 your mileage from this tire will likely be half if your throttle hand has any kind of twitch...

I have a 908 RR on the back now with around 1000 KM on it and it shows little wear...

If wear is the issue, consider the Mefo Super Explorer or the Heideneau K60. People are reporting over 6000kms/ 4000 miles out of them on 950/990s. They are pretty much identical tires, that's why I listed both.

I like the 606 front. Less so the MT21, mostly due to cupping.

Going up to alaska with the girlfriends gs650,shes already purchased the tkc80 front and rear so thats settled.Myself i will run the 606 front and 908 rear on my 990 but will wait to change them up in Watson lake after all that slab. Its tough to decide on what to use to get the most when your in places where tire shops arent around every corner.Oh well worse comes to worse will find tires in Fairbanks,I know i can get them there.Other than that i know tires get toasted on trips like that,i had Mt21 pirellis on my Xr650r up there before, after 4000kms the rear was well beyond done and the front was cupped out very badly. BUY THE TICKET TAKE THE RIDE WEEEEEEE

I use a 908 in the back almost all the time, it's a good tire for the big bikes. I've run TKC's too but they don't last at all on the back, like half of a 908. I really like the TKC front though, it has plenty of traction in the dirt and it's way quieter and less buzzy on the pavement than the 606 front I run during the winter when I stay local. I put a fresh TKC on the back in Dawson went to Inuvik and it was right worn out when I got back to Dawson. I'd run a Mefo/TKC combo for that much slab, the 908/606 would be overkill.
